The upcoming film Mr. Holmes, based on the novel “A Slight Trick of the Mind” by Mitch Cullin, is about a 93 year old Sherlock Holmes who is in the process of writing his story and piecing together events from a 30 year old case that he feels is unfinished. Hi all my name is Maurice Cooper, I work for a small games company called Laughing Jackal and have enjoyed working on a verity of games all with very different styles for a good few years now, my most popular game was probably OMG-Zombies that was realised on Vita and Steam, I love character design work and am at heart a very traditional artist regardless of the fact I have to use a digital process for my job. I love history and often attend re-enactments around the UK and Italy and also play Bass in a local covers band called Rachel’s Robot Army check us out on you tube.
So nearly finished my character for a test animation in Unity when I realise I have done something very silly. So the game is played on a hex grid similar to other strategy RPG’s and I was making a character idol animation for all six sides of the hexagon however if I rotate the hexagons 90 degrees so the flat sides are on the left and right I only have to draw the character facing left and right, lesson learned people. Still ill use what I have as a test and start again.
Working in Unity today, trying to get a 2D animation of my Aria character cycling in an idol position for a concept I had, unity is a pretty cool bit of free kit if you can get your head around it.
